Anti-Thyroglobulin Antibody (Anti-TG or ATG) is a blood test that measures the presence of antibodies against thyroglobulin, a protein produced by the thyroid gland. These antibodies can interfere with normal thyroid function and are often elevated in various autoimmune thyroid disorders.

The test is commonly used to:

• Diagnose autoimmune thyroid conditions such as Hashimoto's thyroiditis (hypothyroidism) and Graves' disease (hyperthyroidism).
• Monitor patients with thyroid cancer (particularly after treatment) to detect recurrence or spread of cancer cells.
• Assess thyroid function in individuals with unexplained thyroid problems.

Elevated levels of Anti-TG antibodies may indicate an autoimmune attack on the thyroid, which can affect its ability to produce hormones.
