The Antiphospholipid Antibody Test is used to help diagnose Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS), a condition that increases the risk of abnormal blood clotting. It is typically performed in the following situations:

• To identify the underlying cause of unexplained blood clots, such as venous thromboembolism or thrombotic episodes (clots in veins or arteries).
• To investigate the cause of recurrent miscarriages, especially in the second or third trimesters of pregnancy.
• When you show symptoms of APS, such as unexplained blood clots, or have experienced multiple miscarriages.

This test is important for women who have had one or more unexplained miscarriages, particularly in later stages of pregnancy, or who have a history of blood clots. It helps guide appropriate treatment and management to reduce the risk of further complications.
