TORCH PANEL-4, IgG

₹790 ₹2,000

4 Parameters Included

The TORCH IgG Test detects the presence of IgG antibodies against four infections that can cause birth defects or illness: Toxoplasma, Rubella, Cytomegalovirus (CMV), and Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV). These infections pose significant risks to a developing fetus and can lead to congenital birth defects, developmental delays, or other health complications.

In newborns, the presence of IgM antibodies indicates a high likelihood of active infection with the organism. Since IgM antibodies cannot cross the placenta from the mother, their presence in the baby strongly suggests an active infection.

On the other hand, if IgG antibodies are present in the newborn but IgM antibodies are absent, this typically reflects passive transfer of maternal antibodies, meaning the baby has received antibodies from the mother but is not actively infected. This does not indicate an ongoing infection in the baby.

The TORCH IgG test helps assess the risk of infection and guide management, particularly in pregnancies or newborns suspected of being exposed to these infections.
