Unexplained weight gain or loss, fatigue, hair thinning, cold intolerance, palpitations, and menstrual irregularities may prompt thyroid screening. TSH is the usual first-line test.
TSH alone screens most cases. Extended panels add Free T3, Free T4, and thyroid antibodies when hyper/hypothyroidism or autoimmune disease is suspected.
