Cardiolipin Antibody (Anti-Cardiolipin, aCL) is commonly found in patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). Elevated levels of aCL have been strongly linked to an increased risk of venous and arterial thrombosis (blood clots), as well as complications such as thrombocytopenia (low platelet count) and recurrent fetal loss. While these issues are commonly observed in SLE patients, elevated aCL levels can also occur in other autoimmune disorders. The clinical significance of aCL levels is still not fully defined, and elevated results should not be interpreted in isolation. These findings should always be considered in the context of the patient’s full medical history, clinical symptoms, and other diagnostic tests.
